Tablet Technology Helps Inmates Find CLI

Most inmates get connected to CLI through their chaplain, another inmate, or because of a donated book or Bible. We’ve also broken down a cost barrier by offering free postage for Bible study lessons. It’s been an exciting year so far seeing more inmates than ever participating in our discipleship program. However, we know that millions of people cycle through correctional facilities annually, so we are actively pursuing other strategies to engage inmates.

God’s Goodness in Papua New Guinea

In 2021, we are excited to partner with two sisters in Papua New Guinea to help them engage the prison population of their country. Several years ago, Caroline and Grace Tom came to America from their home of Papua New Guinea to attend Marietta Bible College, in Marietta, OH. After finishing Bible college, they desired for God to use them in Christian ministry among their people. So in 2019, they returned to Port Moresby, the capital city of Papua New Guinea to begin their ministry.

CLI Prison Alliance Names New CEO

CLI Prison Alliance, a nationally recognized ministry to inmates and chaplains, announced on July 30, 2021, the appointment of Cathy Phillips as its new chief executive officer. The successful entrepreneur and dedicated supporter of CLI, who has recently served on the board of directors, started in her new role on August 2.

You Opened a Door

“Since being incarcerated, I’ve continued to learn about God through the CLI Prison Alliance program. Taking the study courses has enriched my life tenfold. It opened the door, allowing me to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Louisiana Baptist University. I am approximately two years away from completion. I work in the prison education department as a tutor. God is continuing to use me in powerful ways. “

Searching in Solitary

From an early age, Scott’s life was dominated by distractions that kept Him from hearing the voice of God for many years. He was born into a family of alcoholism and abuse. When his mother left him at the age of 6, he and his brother became the sole victims of his father’s drunken rage.

Waiting Room Wonder

Our staffer was left in the waiting room, full of wonder at what God had done in this seemingly chance encounter. With a smile on his face and an “only you God” laughter in his spirit, it was time for his appointment.
