People from all walks of life are capable of making a mistake that lands them in jail. They may serve for a year or less, and then they’re gone. Or maybe they become trapped in a cycle of arrest and release, with longer sentences each time. While we are passionate about reaching people for Christ while they are incarcerated, our hope is that God would transform their lives in such a way that they can get out and stay out!
Charity accepted Christ as He spoke to her through the Bible she was given while in jail. She was only in jail for a year and a half, but it was the lowest point in her life. However she says that she has “grown so much in my faith during my time of incarceration…and I thank God for it.”
She wrote to CLI completing her sentence and returning home to her community and job. “I am an active member in my church and work everyday to show the love of Christ as I work as a nurse in End of Life care.” Looking back on her time in jail, Charity says CLI’s discipleship materials “couldn’t have been any more helpful; I still look back on my certificates and thank God for your studies.”
Testimonies like this one encourage us to keep going in the work of making disciples worldwide. We believe that as we provide Christian books and facilitate discipling relationships, we will see men and women turn from their destructive lifestyles and begin following Jesus with their whole lives.
